In homebrewing, the "Cold Break" is a period where proteins in the Wort (pre-beer) precipitate if the wort is cooled fast enough. I used a wort chiller for this batch, and as you can see, the proteins immediately appeared. If they remain in the beer, the final product will be hazy, so this precipitation allows the proteins to settle so that the final beer will be clear
